Lord Can You Hear Me?

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Just when I think that nothing more can come my way,
I find myself mired deeper and deeper in the cold dark clay.
This week has been one that I just as soon forget.
My wife grows worse, my central air in the 100 degree heat quit.
And last but not least, last night I accidentally left the screen unlatched
And now my wife and I are missing our precious beloved cat.

We raised him from a dropper at three weeks of age.
We gave him and he us two joy filled years.
And now I sit alone in the silence of my tears.

So I asked you Lord tonight…Lord Can you hear me for I am quickly losing sight.

Lord Can You Hear Me

Lord can you hear me; Lord can you see the weight of my soul?

I try Lord; I really do, but all these trials have brought me so low.

Please forgive me Lord for I truly know that of my burdens you hear and see.

It’s just me oh Lord, I’m so tired; I am forlorn and I am so very weak.

I know that of your love which spreads the light of hope upon my face.

I know that I know that I am nothing except by your mercy and grace.

Yet even still in this oh Lord I feel like a stranger in an even stranger land.

So whisper to me my God; talk to me in the quiet of my heart that I may stand.

For the trials of these my days; the constant battles that seems to always rage,

This oh lord comes my plea; share with me thy word that I may truly be free.

So many are the days now oh Lord that I have offered up my helpless plea.

I cried tears of a broken heart when my wife was told its cancer; I wept in sorrows need.

Yet now another blow that has taken more from my already heavy heart.

Our precious cat China who keeps my wife company vanished last night in the dark.

God I know you and you know me; I only ask with a humble heart that you meet my need.

Oh God I know that that I know that you can do all things.

You made this world of wonderment in things seen and unseen.

Some may scoff and say look at you and YOU believe.

But God, your wisdom is more than mere man can perceive.

Help me tonight Lord…help me this day.

I feel I have taken all I can take that has come my way.

You do hear me Lord….I know you do.

My soul bows down and tears come to my eyes for your sorrow. Oh, Lord, hear the pleas of Your servant Allen. He loves You and trusts You, even in the heartbreaking trials. Lord, in Jesus Name, please direct China back to his home tonight. And Lord God, Creator and Sustainer, hear our prayers for Leah and Allen. Father, please bind the enemy from this home and heal Your child Leah according to Your will. Father, in every trial, help Leah and Allen to know the peace that passes understanding as they entrust themselves totally to Your loving hands. Help them to know without a doubt that You are with them, You love them completely, and You will do what is best for them.
Thank You, Father. We love You and praise You in Jesus' Name.

Allen I've been ill and haven't been reading everyone,so I missed the fact that Leah has cancer! I'm so very sorry, and I will pray daily for her and your situation, also put her on the prayer boards. I will also include China in my prayers. I too think he'll be back! Please keep your faith, and never think that our loving Creator has forgotten you! I know He will sustain you, for you have been His friend a long time, and we know He does not forget us, even though we feel lost and lonely at such times of terrible travall. Keep praying, and know we are all praying with you!

Love,
Eileen

We're all hoping and praying little China will be back very soon, my friend; and I truly believe she will. One of the stray orphans I took in got out once, and before very long at all, she was back, at our back door, with all her love and friendship.

((((Allen)))),

When it rains, it pours: remember this, though. God does not give you more than you can bear. You, Leah and China are in extra prayer time tonight (and always) - so sorry to hear. Try to stay cool, your tears wet your words -

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :( *my tears join yours*

I know how you feel right now. Our cat seashore got out last summer and was missing for 29 days. I put her litter box away and all, and didn't I go out one day and she was crying in the lilac bush with 3 other cats besides her there. I brought her in and she hasn't gotten out since. My hubby Tom left the door open to get air so he could breath and she got out by mistake. I was so upset and gave her up for lost. Hopefully yours will find its way back home too sooner than that. Don't give up hope. Prayers to God do help too. I know he will answer you, and he hears you. I prayed lots too last year and am still praying this year. He never leaves you and is always with you.
