The Bus Stop; The beginning

Once upon a time and in a land not so far away, there sat a young man on the edge of his bed reading the bible when he began to pray. He said, “You know God, I got this big ole heart of love to give, a love that is eternal and it seems that know one wants all this love I have, please dear Lord, please send someone that I may love my way”.

The young man sat in the silence a gazed out at the skyline of the city off in the distance; he listened but he heard nothing, so he piped in once again. “Lord, you know my heart and the love that it has, I mean God, I got a heart full of love that is bigger than Texas, surely you have someone for me who would want my love”.

Again nothing but the silence and the now twinkling lights of the skyscrapers. The night collapsed into the morning and the sun rose right on cue. The days passed the young man like a weary and worn out old man as he waited and looked. Then one morning he was waiting at the bus stop down at the foot of the hill. He stood in short sleeves despite the mornings chill and whished he had put on a light jacket. The bus was a little behind schedule and he was starting to get just a little bit cold.

Then he heard the air brakes of the bus about a fourth of a mile away pulling up to another stop. Good he thought, now I can at least get warm. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other in an effort to generate some heat, he at last saw his bus round the curve on Washington Street and then come to a screeching halt just a few feet away. The doors hissed open and he was greeted with a mixture of warmth and chatter from the other commuters on the bus. Dropping his token in the slot he settled into the first seat on the right of the bus. Glancing back across the bus he saw the usual array of passengers. There were Men in their business suits along with maids and waitresses in their uniforms. It was then that he noticed sitting three rows back from him a fresh and smiling face that looked as it were cut from a magazine cover. “Gosh” he thought, she sure is a pretty one.

He must have been starring pretty hard because she soon caught his eye and flashed him a large toothy grin. Leaning a little to the side of an introvert he dropped his head quickly and returned his gaze back to the front of the bus hoping that he had not made a fool of himself. Ten stops and three miles latter he at last arrived at his stop. He arose from his seat to depart and looked back once more for the lady with the pretty smile and crystal blue eyes, it was then that he noticed that she too had stood and was walking towards the front of the bus to exit. He thought briefly about sitting back down and riding up to the next stop and then just walking back to his destination, but thanks to the bus running late this would not be an option. Trying to be a gentleman he allowed the pretty lady to exit ahead of him. He then followed and to his surprise she was still standing at the base of the landing. She then looked up at this young man and spoke in the sweetest voice that he had ever heard…”Hi she said, my name is Leah, it looks like we are going to the same building.”

Be still my heart he thought…what in the world am I going to say?....Err, uh, he fumbled and then blurted out…I just love that little sailors outfit you are wearing….oh what and idiot he thought…its no wonder you don’t have anyone to share all that love you tell God you have….love that sailor outfit huh…he would be lucky if she didn’t slap him. : Why thank you she said and your name is??? Uh, well, uh…my friends call me Allen

Will wait for the next segment. This meeting was meant to be and God answered your prayers. He will keep you still in his hands and give you the strength to go on and write more about that meeting for us all to read. Anxiously awaiting it too.

You have a wonderful story to share, Allen. I like that you've chosen to do it a bit at a time, and look with anticipation for the next segment.
I love the way you are telling this. You were smitten from the first glance!

With prayers and a hug,
Connie
