Poem Artwork

The Reckless Wind

Nothing but silence; no more do I hear I love you.

Year after year morning noon and night I heard I love you.

Now this house, our home has become my silent tomb.

Even in crowds I am alone; no hand to hold; no I love you.

I smell you everywhere; I see you in everything.

Even If I were to flee to the ends of the earth;

You would be there…but silent; without love in your song.

15 days ago I laid your sweet body to its eternal rest.

Hundreds came to say goodbye and wish me their best.

“We will come by to check on you” Oh yes I heard them all say.

Still no one and there is nothing but this silence both night and day.

“If you need anything just let us know”

“We are here for you…

Oh that is so sweet, but where, where did you all go?

Emotions teeter now on a reckless wind.

Happiness only in that you are free of pain,

Yet the loss of hearing I love you has no end.

I know what is right and I know what is wrong.

So many…oh what the use…in the silence I suffer alone.

Grief takes its time and true friends know this. Trust that they are still there, perhaps waiting for some sign from you that they are welcome. Don't be afraid to reach out to them, and to us. We're here for you, too. Rebecca

This is very touching, and I urge you to continue to write through your grief. And go out, find a group--at church, at the park, in the community and be a part of something that helps you connect. AD will help. Peace. Eileen

Time changes thinges. Your friends think perhaps you would rather be alone. Call your friends and talk. It helps. Especially praying friends.

This is sad. Allen, but I can understand your feelings.

I know everyone mean well, for they know you are alone. Some know how just how you feel too, but they don't know how to console you.

Sometimes, being alone is not so bad. Perhaps, listening to some music can help you to relax; or turn on the TV to watch a movie, so it would keep your mind on to thinking about something else for a change and you won't be feeling so "alone".

Hope my suggestion helps!

Think about it, how many times before losing Leah did you both say to someone that experienced a loss, that "you will be there for them"...it is something that is said when "they" think you need it..."they" are not doing it out of malice...

You are a lucky guy in the way that you can get your feelings out on paper for all to read & know of your pain as most men, due to the "machismo" thing, can't or won't show pain, tears etc...In sincere friendship, Ed & Rufuz

Allen, you know that you are never alone...Leah is there with you always...in what you see...in what you breathe...what you feel...and in what you write. Beautiful piece filled with emotion.

(((Allen))),

Never apologize for grieving. Those that complain don't know loss. It's going to take time. For everyone, it's different. Keep writing, keep talking - I'm here.

Aching sadness and loneliness in your lines tonight: know you're in my prayers. Need to talk, message board me.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I don't get tired of hearing what you have to say. I do dwell on my Tom still after over a year too. Put sad poetry on and all and keep rereading those writes to get more out of them. Am grieving still and might be for quite a few years yet, I don't know. Don't feel you are alone in your grief. Maybe people just don't know what to say to you now. I know it hurts but we have to survive til the Good Lord wants us to go there to heaven too. It's hard, but we will be survivors here til that time.

No you are never alone, her spirit is strong and lives on in your heart and soul. Keep on writing, it is a healing energy from Leah...
Most beautiful soul let her spirit be your guiding light,
Peace, love, and light,

Not alone, togethered. This feels like a mother.

The last verse is powered by 'agee', seen and lived, empathed and shared.
