Angels And Crosses

Soft thin clouds tore like gauze across the morning’s sky.

I sat alone in the early lights chill and watched the sun slowly climb.

I sat at her feet; the lady at the cross by the place where Leah sleeps.

There was a small rustle of birds; other than that in this place the silence keeps.

As I sat there by Leah’s side, I spoke in small hushed tones and softly cried.

Light drops of rain began to fall from the gauzy crepe clouds above.

I moved not to shelter but rather chose to think they were Leah’s tears of love.

I began to tell her like I have so many times in our life together before.

I told her not to cry for me, but rather rejoice and be glad before the Lord.

I then looked skyward into the clouds and the misting white rain.

I smiled a half smile and said, “Leah, though I lost you, an Angel heaven did gain.

The rain then stopped and diffused amber rays of the sun began to appear.

I looked at the lady clinging to the cross; I looked at the damp soil and knew.

I took my finger and in gentle swirls spelled out in the mud…Leah, I love you.

With you again all the way in this write. It tells your emotions and how you are handling them, nothing wrong with that. Yes, she is with the angels and having such a good time. We still have to bear our burdens here on earth, but she is releived of hers.

So tears flow down my face and on to my hand as I write this, with the sun shining, fading and shining again through my window's lace curtains.

I love that you were able to give that half-smile for Leah.

I love that Leah is in so many places--at the foot of the lady clinging to the cross, in the heart of you, her husband, in your eloquent words penned and shared, in the images we see in photographs and through words giving impressions we can only imagine. We will hold these images and thoughts until November, when Leah reaches a destination of promise, where you will release unto the waves of the waters, memories, in honor of your shared love. I think beyond those tears of both happiness and sorrow, you will give Leah the other half of that smile from the feet of the lady clinging to the cross. I expect we will be blessed with your continued example of the pure love. Keep writing as she fills your weary soul.

Allen,
This made me cry, such love you have for her. She lives in your heart, Allen. She always will. May the Lord look down and bless you and ease your pain, sooth your aching heart. I cannot begin to understand how feel, I can only imagine.

Many blessings,
~Linda
