Sweet Angel

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Guest of my life;

You came in the early dawn, and you in the night. Your name was uttered by the spring flowers and yours by the showers of rain. You brought the harp into my house and you brought the lamp. After you had taken your leave I found gods footprints on my floor.

Sweet Angel

Thy presence dances for me of the precipices of my dreams.

You come again and again unto me with the surety of peace.

Your heart was always true and your love for me forever mine.

You are my sweet angel; the soul of my memory for all time.

I wept hard today as I sold a piece of you to strangers of another land.

I sold unto them your pride and joy; your new piano that you played so grand.

Now another woman’s fingers will do runs up and down those ivory keys.

Yet she shall never make so sweet the music as when you my sweet angel sings.

Little by little my most precious love, I release a small piece of you each day.

Be it a trinket, a memento or a painting done by your hands…I give them away.

They are precious to me…they are connections to you, but when all is said and done…..nothing but memories held in my heart will remain.

Do you see my sweet angel… Oh do you see?

I will always and forever love you, but now in my memory.

I shall love again and I shall love the next as much as I did you.

She is waiting, oh waiting; and I know that by God and you that my next love will always be true.

I used to think, if I can get through a year, after a close someones passing, then all would be right, but damn its been twenty years since my dads passing and still I think of him and have some good memories...don't listen to anyone else, you go on being who you are, if that means to not let go of Leah for a hundred years, then so be it...Ed

Letting go is hard, but some things you cannot keep. Things are meant to be used and giving them away to people of needs is great for you to do. Leah would love you for it and is looking down and seeing everything too that you do. Her spirit resides within you and always will. We never forget our loves, I was told.

Allen, It is so hard letting go, but one must let go in order to heal. You are a very strong man. Beautiful poetry here...
Peace, love, and light,
