The Confessor

Outside my world which lay afore me in the days of my recent past.

Knowing yet not fully seeing the woes of so many in the pain that last.

Never intentional was this blind eye of mine in that it refused to see.

Only was it before now focused on the presence of my wife and her beauty.

Yet now with eyes wide open; more focused am I on others and their pain.

I knew of this before to a degree; however it was not then as now quite the same.

A woman loses her husband; and couples their son and a man loses his wife.

Such are the arduous burdens of this single act play that we humans call life.

Should not our hands reach out in simple compassion to all who cry and suffer?

Should we not give more of ourselves in knowing that all are sister and brother?

Guilty am I in the past of these transgressions as I had ear yet fully did not hear.

I did my duty so thought I, I gave food to the poor, yet in comfort I was not clear.

Is it because I feared my own mortality, or was it that I was lacking in His love?

I know not the answers of then, I know only now to seek His will from above.

She said to me today in a voice stricken with pain, “I miss my husband so much.”

He said to me in his soft confession…”oh how I miss so much her loving touch.”

Though words the above are resolute with the grief and suffering from lost love.

Pain and sorrow abound everywhere…and the only answer is to seek His will above.

A child is daily abused; a mother prostitutes who is hooked on crack,

A family is now homeless with only the clothes that they on their back.

Many are the attributes of a world so filled with pain caused by the original sin.

Yet in our heart it is instilled by God that we should love all and through love give.

He said to me this is more than my heart can take: she said I can’t take it any more.

They all have in confession so painfully said that just living has become a chore.

Therefore from the confessor to those who hurt and pain is confessed.

Turn not a blind eye; reach out in pure love and always give to another your best.

(((Allen))),

Sometimes takes an earthshaking event to make one see - not that one ever wants one to happen - until a man walks a mile in another's shoes, they may never know - much pain, much sadness, much wisdom in these lines. Well done.

(((HUGS))) love and prayers, Karla.
