Plastic Flowers & The Unseen Wind

The following piece is from observations today at noon as I sat in the shadow of the cross and quietly prayed.

Plastic Flowers & The Unseen Wind

Plastic flowers dotted the landscape of the Garden Of Memories.

They danced in the unseen wind to the songs of those interned below.

A little old lady hobbled ever so slowly across the green/ brown grass.

She carried fresh plastic flowers to place on the grave of a love from the past.

The reds and the whites of plastic leaves shown so brilliant in the February sun.

I watched in silence as she arduously knelt beside the cold gray stone of her loved one.

With tired hands that shook uncontrollably from the effects of old age.

She gently and with utmost care placed upon the stone the bright new bouquet.

The unseen wind stilled, and if one would listen close; one could hear the angels sing.

She then rose on legs that trembled and slowly without looking back, she walked away.

The unseen wind then resumed and I heard myself if the quietness of my heart pray.

God, bless now this little old lady and give unto her your peace for still another day.

I then rose from the shadows near the lady and the cross where I had knelt.

I then once more kissed Leah goodnight as the plastic flowers on unseen winds danced and swayed….it was then as I walked away that I heard the angels as they sang….

“Amazing Grace…how sweet the sound”

This brought tears to my eyes...thinking of the many times that I too have walked away after kissing plastic flowers...

There are times too...that I wish that those imitation flowers could be replaced by real & living flowers--but I guess in the end, until the next life, imitation is what we get.

Allen:

You have described a scene that is filled with love and dedication. By directing the reader's attention to the old lady, you actually had caused the readers to think about you while you too were being there.

Very beautiful write, Allen; and you are never alone, even though you may feel otherwise. Jesus is always with you; He will never leave or forsake you. He hears your cries. Continue to lean on Him, and know that your beloved Leah is still with you; she lives on in you, in your heart!

(((HUGS))), much love, and continued prayers~

As always, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)
