The past and future collided today as I went back to the place that Leah and I first dated...the park in Greenville and then over to the falls in the park where we sat on the rocks and dreamed dreams. It did not look like it did before as now as it has been beautified. The above photo is from today at the park...

I felt no sadness even though this day marks the day that she passed six months ago. I only felt a fondness for what was and hope for the future...for all around me change had taken place...it was the same place as it was 24 years ago...but it did not stay the same...it moved forward and became even more beautiful....and I smiled as as sat on the grassy knoll and a butterfly landed on a flower which grew beside me.

The Past; The Present & The Future Collide

The soft roar of the water lulled me into a gentle sleep.

As did the recollections of the past to inner most heart I keep.

I watched as the children scurried up the rocks in wild and jubilant play.

I smiled on the past; I rested in the present and held out hope of a future day.

What was will again never be, and what is today will soon be past.

I dream now only of the future and of finding anothers love which will forever last.

I was awakened from my distant thoughts by the nearby laughter of a child.

And I thought only of good things that I felt about the day and I softly smiled.

I lay now on the grassy knoll with my face turned upward into the warming sun.

I could smell the flowers which bloomed beside me and my thoughts turned to another one.

The past still surrounded me but it was soft and gentle and lay light on my heart.

The present enveloped me with tender arms as I dreamed of the future and a new start.

I thought that nothing remains the same, I thought to live I must like the flowers beside me...grow.

And as I got up to leave...I saw a butterfly light on the flower beside me and I thought only now of a new hope.

Peace is an amazing thing...it comes softly, bringing hope, happiness, gladness, uplifting, airlessness, weightlessness, comfort, faith...so many things wrapped up in such a small word. And yet...it holds the riches of the eternity within...
