She Thought…He Thought

She sat alone in the empty silence of the brightly lit room;

with the light chasing the darkness outside and she thought of him.

She put the wheels on yet another toy she looked at the clock and sighed.

She wondered almost aloud if he was thinking of her like she was thinking of him.

Finishing the last toy truck and placing it in the box, she lay back on the couch and closed her eyes.

She pulled up the covers to just under her chin she soon drifted off to the place where dreams live. Warm sandy beaches now stretched for miles ahead and she walked undisturbed in this most pleasant dream.

She stopped and turned for a second, looking now west across the immense open sea and thought again of him. Turning now from the sea, she walked towards a palm and sat down and pondered her tomorrows with closed eyes…I wonder, oh I wonder if he is thinking of me?

The sun still shone bright as its invisible rays beat against the tin roof of the factory.

Two more loads of samples to do he thought and then he could at last go home.

He should have been done by now he said to himself, but his mind was not on his job.

For he thought of tomorrow, he thought of someday…he thought of nothing…nothing but her and her smiling face.

He then pushed the cart of samples to cool in front of the large fan and went to take a break. He walked out back where the deer and rabbit play and sat down in the coolness of the shade.

She is sleeping now he thought…I wonder if she is dreaming,

I wonder if she is dreaming of me as I am thinking of her.

Soon he then arose to return back to work and looked somberly across the meadow to the East. And there sitting atop a small pine there was a lone seagull bearing a small palm leaf.

I wonder he thought….I wonder she dreamed….

Allen, this, I think is my new favorite of yours...for it speaks of a life of two very real people, where hopes and dreams continue and one day can come true.

Longing in these beautiful lines of hope, Allen - I pray you are thinking of her and she, you - well done.

(((HUGS))) love and continued prayer, Karla.

Very prolific and mesmerizing, half a dream and half a longing - or a wish so strong it evolved into a dream for both. Seagulls like pigeons become messengers for lovers, beautiful last lines.
