GOD…Time…and Travail

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

GOD…Time…and Travail

Time, oh sweet time walks on without regard to this my day.

Silent is its, yet ever moving; deceptive in its own hidden way.

Whispers of the past call out; call out seeking an ear in the night.

A heavy fog grips the earth; smothering the very essence of light.

Months crawl like angry serpents, slithering, seducing, seeking to devour.

Simple hearts waft on the gentle wind, searching, seeking only their sweet hour.

They say they understand, they say they know of this thy secret, yet silent pain.

Yet they only whisper like the dead leaves that lie lifeless on the cold streets of autumn’s rain.

Whereunto shall the desire of the heart go…should it taste forever the separation of hope?

Tis useless to share it seem the words of lost dreams, to grasp at the fleeting winds unknown.

Yet even still it is unto this day that time oh sweet time continues its silent march its own way.

My eyes have seen so much pain.

Even from past the charred bodies of children of years gone by.

Even unto the death of love in the pouring rain.

I see the images of sorrow; I taste the graphic depictions of death.

Yet I know that HIS grace in the end will be sufficient to renew life’s zest.

This cry in the night is not to be construe d to be of, or about me.

Yet it is but a small reflection on the scope of vastness of eternity.

GOD IS GOOD…and through perseverance….

HE shall make straight OUR way.

Happy Thanksgiving to all…for we all even in our days of travail have much to be thankful for.
