Twice Touched By An Angel

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Some of you may remember a year and one half ago when I lost my wife to cancer yet some may not. For those who do, I thank you for your unconditionally love and support. For those who do not know the story of a “Glimpse Of An Angel”, then I relate another tale. My new love, Jan was struck down by an aneurism last Wednesday. This is my second and final angel before the Lord God I shall see. Keep her in your prayers please…for life is too short not to unconditionally love.

Twice Touched By An Angel

Faint is the whisper of time upon short shadows.

Ever so brief the eclipse of our shallow days.

Hearts beckon and cry out before the rising sun.

And in the blink of an eye the journey is done.

Bitter and broken is the soul which hath no love.

Its emptiness steals away all life given from above.

Thus cries the man who sleeps in the shadows of time.

Never loving, never feeling, or giving all of his heart and mind.

Should true love should kiss your cheek; when tenderness embraces your soul.

Shy not away from its touch, for it is by love that our short lives are made whole.

I have seen the many moons of sorrow; I have wept for what was and shall again never be.

Yet by giving my heart, by giving my soul even greater things shall I see.

Even though our lives are like tiny, small vapors on a whispering wind.

Should we but whisper in the silence of our own shadows, we must love again and again.

Though tonight I walk alone and taste the bitter vine of the faint whisper of time.

I shall never surrender to the dark shadows which creep in the recesses of the mind.

For it is I who has been blessed beyond the realm of a normal man’s dream.

Twice touched by an angel am I; twice blessed by God who by His love redeems.

Though sadness wears against my weary heart tonight, I shall always love.

This is whom I am, this is the entire substance of the shade I call me.

I miss you Jan…I love you, and I pray with my heart that all is well.

Yes sir, you do have the God given ability to love unconditionally, I dare to say I wish I did as well, though I have tried, it is inherently hard...my parents only stayed together because of me, their love for each other was never there & I guess I picked up that same trait, unfortunately...though, again, I do try...I envy you...ED

Allen, I just read this heart-wrenching, heart tugging write..At first I said, what? not again, but then I read Jan's response and I understood..God is all knowing and all loving..trust in the power of love and I feel so strongly that you will get your chance to be happy once again...

I shall keep Jan & you in my prayers.
Much peace, love and light

Baby, I am no angel, I'm just an old woman who loves you with all my heart and soul. I want so much to be laying by your side, with my face nestled into your neck, smelling your wonderful scent, but right now I can't be. But that does not mean that we can't image being together, so lay back and feel me against you, my hands rubbing up and down your back, my lips softly kissing your face then finding your lips and starting the war of the tongues. LOL
I need you to be strong for me now, where I have been the strong one for so long. And you can't be if you give into your fear. So fear not, think positive and think how much I love you and how much I need you now and forever more. Yes, I am in tremendous pain, but it lets me know that I am alive. And they say it will eventually go away, so until then I need you to help me focus on other things to get my mind of the pain.
And nothing could be better then starting to plan our wedding. THANK YOU for remembering my childhood dream. I now know you really listen to everything I say. And I am no where close to being a Cinderalla, but if we can pull if off, it will be the Happiest day of my life, but it will be either way, because I will be yours forever and thats all I ever wanted since I met you.
I Love You Mr Wilson, so sleep baby, stay strong for me, and know what ever happens that you are my everything and it is an honor and a priveledge to know that I am yours and you are mine.
I Love you, Baby
Your future Mrs. Wilson
