I Stand at the Precipice

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Fear is the opposite of faith. It is the benchmark; the solitary signature of the forces of darkness which assail us on a daily basis. We must despite the conditions which surround us always place our trust in God. Difficult at times, absolutely, yet faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

I Stand at the Precipice

The sting of cold steel collides within.

Forces outer dimensional equate our sin.

Pull not the blade from my back lest I bleed.

For evil calls on the unsaved; shadows sleep with greed.

I stand now at the precipice of another new day.

Yet all that remains of this fragile soul is my faith.

It has been almost now two years of turmoil; almost two years of trials.

The fires of darkness still burn, and in my heart I question if it all be worthwhile.

Why not ask I of myself to just give up and let the devil have his due?

Why should I continue to fight against the things of which have no clues?

The easy way out would be to give in; to surrender to the darkness and not the light.

Yet to do so would ever endow me to the eternal separation from God in His sight.

Yet still I stand at the precipice…. As I weep into the night.

No jumping off nor is weeping allowed, stay strong in His faith and know that one day you will attain eternal life...

Thank you for the "little" gift, though it is NOT little, it is exactly what I wanted, thank you, dear friend...Ed

This write really touched me.
I took hours to go to sleep last night and still woke up early this morning. My faith is all I have

I too cannot sleep tonight, up at 4 a.m. having green tea rasp flavored and thinking too of God and his whole wide universe. I have a cold, and cannot hear out of ears, and the antibiotics did not kick in yet either. On them for 6 days and no results to the ear infection. Have a broken left ear drum too. Oh what is is a chore to be ill, but I place my life in God's hands always as you do. Continue in your upbeat spirit and let God be God.
