The Last Light

The last light of day folded neatly on the subdued horizon.

Paper dreams written with shadows now in darkness sleep.

The call of birds upon deaf ears reaches the approaching sea.

I place a candle by the window; all hope is dashed beneath my feet.

I watch in silence as the golden flame flickers and dies.

The journey is over as the last light of life subsides.

This is so powerfully sad but yet uplifting. You have a profound way of touching someone's heart with your words.
She is at peace my friend, and awaits your soul when it is time for you two to be reunited in the hereafter...Such a beautiful poem!
