Am I Just a Teardrop

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Though much travail has attempted to shatter and destroy our lives. Though I know we all face the battles that are certain to come at us in life. We must remain strong and in God always trust. If we become victims then darkness wins…but I choose life…I am the head and not the tail. Love above all is paramount. Love not just for self, but for all living and breathing things…lest we do become that single teardrop in someone’s eye.

Am I Just a Teardrop

Am I just a teardrop, never to be shed?

Or am I a cry in the night, never to be heard.

Am I just a mind, with knowledge shining bright?

Or is it my eyes only that see the rose colored light.

Am I not flesh and bone, something that can feel?

Do not I have a heart that beats a song of love for you?

Or is it only my soul alone that sings this soft melody so true .

Am I not the air you breathe, and for you and you alone?

For if you but dare to look into my eyes;

I promise withal something wondrous you shall see.

Clear are they; void of illusion and the clouds of silent confusion.

Fixed in their gray-green; windows clear as rain to my soul.

I see you in my heart each and every single day.

I feel your love, the tenderness; the warmth, even from miles away.

My love for you is deeper than you or any shall ever…ever know.

Yet my love is a shared love; a love unselfish given to all in heaven and below.

Therefore how can it be that I am just a teardrop never to be shed?

How can this be by heart and written through verse not to be true ?

For I live in you and by you and you are the soul within me.

Teardrops thus cease; joy henceforth is through and by God ever intertwined.

It is by His grace in which our mortal teardrops mingle with the covenant of the NEW WINE.

I am yours baby and you are mine…together forever through thick and thin.

I am yours sans the teardrops…you are mine.

A beautiful poem of loving and longing. And, yes... you ARE the head and not the tail (Bible) A lovely read, a poetic offering to read more than once.
