Lost Love…Love Gained.

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Within the next two weeks I will see an anniversary that now only in heart exists. Though now it is three years distant since she passed I shall never forget. Yet life must move on, and move on I have. Memories are just those…memories. Pleasant as they may be, they are built upon the foundations of the past.

The last three years I guess can best be described as hell on earth, but heaven as well. I believe that is an oxymoron and one that I would find difficult to explain.

For you see, even though one lone love may die…a million more exist if we should but open our eyes.

Lost Love…Love Gained.

I have always been taught that when one door closes, another shall open.

In these years I have found God’s words to hold fast and all so true .

That is why God in his love for me sent me to you.

Jan, oh Jan…how can I in my feeble words declare to you my love?

Your hope, your dreams equate mine as if sent from God above.

Our union is born of things we understand not, but are wholly divine.

For I think love to be eternal if and only if it is in HIS time.

In the morning I see you smile, and in the evening after a long days work I feel your hug.

I see the sparkle in your eyes and the warmth in your touch and once again I know love.

Though I now face the same disease that took my first true love away.

You are there with me in prayer and supplication each and every day.

I only wish that I could give you more than just the shards of my heart.

For I, in all my love, if I could would give you a handful of heaven wrapped in a black velvet sleeve complete with the beauty of the moon and the stars.

Life is not easy, and God never said to his sheep that it would be.

Yet HE in his eternal mercy granted this day…this hour with thee.

I love you Jan and I always and forever in all my heart will.

You love me and I love you and our love shall grow until the river of life becomes still.

Note…. This piece is for all those who have lost and think that they can never love again. I stand now and say unto you…God cares; God and I love you too.
