Living With Cancer; The End Of Week Two.
Friday morning arrives as I drive through the mist and fog.
I see the leaves are beginning to lose their summer’s green.
‘Old Man Take A Look At My Life’ by Neil Young plays softly on my CD.
I drive slowly without emotion for my senses seem dull and drained.
Another round of treatments await with six more week which shall remain.
I see a dead squirrel in the road and mutter my usual / unusual for some chant.
“ Bless his little spirit, he only tried to live, but had no chance”.
Fast forward my mind races to the same cancer stricken faces I shall soon see.
The old man who sleeps and dreams; the old woman with no hair.
The track on the CD changes and ‘Heart Of Gold’ begins it air.
In my mind I rewind…I go back into another day and time.
Red light up ahead; getting nearer now to the room of the walking dead.
I lip sync along with Neil through the verses of a heart of gold.
Yet flash forward comes reality and the proof that I’m just growing old.
When I arrive and through the swishing doors I walk I am surprised.
No Idle chatter do I hear; just soft voices which whisper; one has just recently died.
Tears unseen by others well in the corners of my eyes.
Stage IV I heard one say and only six treatments remained.
I think of the squirrel who only tried to live, but died.
I finish my treatments’ for the day, yet I leave emotionally drained.

God is by your side holding your hand through this bump in the road. May He bring you healing is my prayer.
Love and blessings,
~Linda
You think of it as a room of death and doom; and truly, that is the end too often. But it is also a room of hope and life, as you and others go forward, a step at a time, waging the battle that has been thrust upon you.
Thank you for sharing your deepest feelings and your need for our prayers. Your words will change each of us as we reflect on them and learn, albeit second-hand, the emotions that accompany your experience with cancer. I think we will all be more compassionate as a result.
May God lift your spirits and continue to strengthen your body.
Love,
Connie
May the Lord comfort you at this important time. May you see your purpose through this all and be a light to others.
Peace be with you,
John Domino
