For One of the Men I admire the Most; Mr. Ed Kostros
There are many men, who I look up to and admire,
Yet as I stare into the soft eyes of my five stray cats,
I think of Mr. Ed and his never ending humanitarian desire.
I may recue in a year maybe four or even sometimes five.
Yet he through the countless years has kept thousands alive.
From ‘Katrina to ‘Sandy’ his work and love goes on.
He rescues the homeless and does his very best to find them a home.
I myself am unable to fathom how of God’s creatures man can mistreat.
Sadly my heart breaks when I look into a small puppy’s mistreated eyes.
I weep for the small kittens thrown into lakes and rivers only to die.
I know my first experience with this most inhumane treatment came when I was about eight.
I was walking home from school, and like most kids do I was kicking cans and picking up shiny things that looked at that age really cool.
It was then that I noticed a burlap potato sack in the shallow gully by the railroad track.
I then noticed a slight movement in the sack to which I quickly investigated and found to my dismay one small kitten as she upon her dead siblings lay.
Yet I fall a hundred, or even a thousand miles short as I have watched and read of Mr. Ed.
He in my personal opinion was born for this time and the unselfish giving of his resources for all of God’s creatures both great and small as they rest in the comfort of his loving hand.
God bless you Mr. Ed and thank you for all you do.
