Poem Artwork

The Gate Keeper

Lucas stands tall with smiling eyes at the open door.

A silent strength lay now behind his soft amour.

A hundred hungry eyes stare into the void of space,

Ever searching to fill empty lives,

Some with faux laughter, others with blatant lies.

Yet amidst what eyes of peace would see;

Stands tall ‘The Gatekeeper’

Who shall meet the hungry souls needs.

Seldom in life can such balance be achieved.

Yet, someway, somehow The Gatekeeper manages to succeed.

Though not big in stature he commands respect.

He delivers to the hungry eyes whom sometimes walk amongst a faceless crowd.

They continue to stare and without voice scream aloud.

Yet The Gatekeeper like unto The Ferryman of old;

In a supernatural way transports our soul.

Diligent is he, This Gatekeeper I see.

Strong, but yet gentle in the face of adversity.

This is an interesting series. Doing homage to fellow tavern travelers. From my viewpoint, not much of that going on here in hellhole Houston.
