A Death Sentence and The Third White Cross.
You sweet little one, you came into our life in November 2011 as I rescued you from the middle of the road.
You were scared and all alone; crying for your mother as cars sped by…you were so alone.
My heart fell still for you dear Callie as I stopped and pulled you from harm’s way, and took you home.
You captured my heart at once with that gentle smile across your sweet face.
When I held you close I could feel heavens warmth and tender grace.
We took you to the vet just like all the kittens we do find, and when the vet came back, tears filled my eyes.
She told us that you were very sick and in a few short months that you would die.
She wanted to put you down that very day, yet I said NO and that we would give you all our love in every way.
Now two years later I find that you are amongst all the ones now gone.
I buried you this past Sunday just before we left off for our fall trip.
Yet in finding you I found a part of me. I found endless love from you dear Callie, a kitty sentenced to death, but through our love and yours, you were set free.
Thank you sweet one for all your love…thank you for all your smiles sent from above.
Thank you dear Callie for allowing me to find you, love you and for waiting for me to hold you as your spirit was set free.
No longer sweet one doth the chains which bound your body hold you captive.
No more shall you feel any type of discomfort or pain.
You are free dear Callie to join all the rest to romp and roam, though your shell lies beneath the third white cross…know this that beneath the sod and clay it is not your home.
For we will see you once again…when I don’t know, but that is in God’s hand.
We love you little one, rest now in sweet peace, for soon we shall see each other and with your smile and precarious ways, you shall us greet.

Like Callie, she was rescued. Jade(named for her huge almond-shaped green eyes)was snatched from an abusive man at just 4 weeks old, by our daughter, when the man tried to drown her in a pool, after several other foiled attempts - like the train tracks!! So I really understand the deep affection and the relationship that results, no matter how long, or short, our season with them is. What matters is that our love changes their lives..
As you know, the reward of their love in return, is almost unspeakable. How sad... most pets give love away far better than the humans ever do. :(
May the LORD bind up the wound in your hearts. ^ ^
