I See Yesterday

I have smelt rotting flesh; I have seen black eyes opened wide, I’ve heard the rasp of a dying mans last breath.
I’ve seen naked mothers lie upon the charred bodies of their children who had no eyes; surrounded, over-come, swarming with virulent flies.

Chase now the silent war that sleeps in the evil hearts of men with no dreams.
Stand fast and refute all those who say Peace, Peace.
Yet who in the silence of dark places, kill love and tear life at the very fabric of its seams.

Many are they who sow the seeds of hatred each and every day.
Life has no value, no worth, muted are our voices.
For in the eyes of kings, our simple minds have little to say.

So thus I stand naked beneath the starry night, I feel the coldness of winter, I feel the oppression of the slaughter of innocents who speak in unheard voices to my mind on this cold night.

Therefore brush aside the faux joy in which you presumed to be.
Because I see beyond the day, I see beyond the night…
I see yesterday.

man is a simple and vile creature ... Catherine Anne Porter who wrote "Ship of Fools" believed "salvation is an illusion, and evil is inevitable"

Without a clear view of yesterday, imagine what monsters we could be or become. Maybe Hitler and his herd of miscreants did us a favor, sadistically speaking. Don't monsters draw a line so most of us know not to cross it? You have an unusual and enjoyable way of phrasing ideas.

Let us hope the atrocities of the 20th century do not return. Education and communication like the Internet are the key in keeping despots from destroying, not head-on war that destroys everything in its path, good and bad. And leaves the soldiers with bad memories forever.

I have great empathy for those that suffered through the hands of the monsters. It must have been so horrible to live in fear everyday...
