Poem Artwork
Shadows That Cling

Sun so bright, yet shadows grow hindering the silent mans sight.
He carries with him on this journey called life
A shattered heart riddled with strife.

Tomorrow oh tomorrow he so softly pines,
Tomorrow he sings himself to sleep for a sun without the shadows which cling to his soul like the darkness of night creeps.

Awakened now by the lift of soft mornings breeze,
He hears day breaks song coming gentle from forest trees.
On distant horizon , he through weary old eyes, a creeping sun he sees.

Hope though distant has began it's rise.
Hope, yes hope dashed by the quickening of shadows climb.
Light oh light subdued by the growing night and once more the old man hangs his head and cries.

I think this poem captures the beginning of our 21st century well, in a lyrical, edgy, yet soft manner. So much hope in our times, and yet the darkness continues to encroach upon us all.
Hope springs eternal, and yet the darkness is also seemingly always attempting to overcome the Light, making even the sun fade.
If you were trying to capture the struggle, you have pulled it off brilliantly ( pardon the unintended pun) with this one.
Thanks J.

Wonder how I missed this one, but you might be happier that I did as the old man that hangs his head is most likely you, getting older by the second...-e-

So sad but identifiable for me. Yet life has a way of turning itself around. I would advise the speaker to actively look for the beauty to be found beyond the darkness. It was how I began to save myself. Rebecca

Why art thou cast down my soul, disquieted in my breast?
Just hope in GOD, just hope in God, and I will praise Him yet
Oh yes and I will praise Him yet!

My gosh Bubba, you cause my heart to ache with your near-dirge!
Its beauty is so dark.. is the photography yours also? It's glorious!
You are always in my prayers.
Love & Hugs to you & Jan, Sis
Oh! I get it.. teehee, turning 60, eh? <:O)

Sad when even hope is emerging. A very depressing piece.

I wish that the possessive using apostrophes and the right pronouns would be used, making the word for meaningful and correct.
