She Danced
I watched from a distance as she played in a nearby field. Spinning in circles tossing late summer daisies into the air. Jumping and twirling without a care.
Her long blonde tresses danced along with her in the afternoons sun. I could hear faint laughter and soft singing as she in what resembled in my minds eye, the fields of yesterday and my own fun.
What was she seeing, thought I? What song was it that for her did play? Was it a singsong nursery rhyme, or an imaginary friend real to her but to this aged old man just something unseen on this day?
Oh the wondrous beauty of youth carefree in every way.
I watched awhile longer and a soft smile on my face lay.
Though I'm now older and closer to my final day. By Gods grace I too will dance again in fields more wonderful, free of care, set loose of earthly pain.
