A simple spin on there is nothing new under the sun.

I have seen what it is
to be bound by chains
not only by those of foreign oppressors
but by those whom I can call by name.
I have also seen
Humility on dead men's faces
that betrayed not
their final call
but gave proof
of the demon that chases.
Oh God, I feel that I have seen it all.
Time's hidden veils
have fallen from their secret places
and allowed eternity's light
to shine forth upon my face.
I could then see all that ever was
and all that shall ever be.
My eyes have partaken of those things
of which some men only dream.
I have seen great joys and terrible sorrows
I have witnessed the end of tomorrow
I have seen kings, rise and fall
I have with sadness
seen the end of it all.
Take heed, my friends
And hearken unto this lament
Make peace today
For the sun that warms your face today
Will be the night
That hastens the last tomorrow
And command all souls
To their journey's final race.
