Barren

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

This was written at a time in my life, when darkness consumed my soul. I realize now, that there really is a tomorrow and that it is indeed darkest before the dawn.

Sunday, October 5, 2003

Angry clouds beset me, casting shadows of gray on the backdrop of time.

Dark tumors of despair grow unchecked in the empty fallows of my mind, as they

Snake across the barren terrain and choke the dreams that remain.

Consolations now forgotten as their poison corrupts my soul.

I looked for elation and my eyes beheld only the blackness of unremitting nights.

Time dangled the final link before me, as the anchor fell, and into

The depths I go, as I relinquish  all.

To know darkness is to know light. Glad to hear things are better for you now.

Very sad and forlorn. Empty. I am glad you realize that there IS a tomorrow! There is always HOPE!
