Celestial Flight

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Journey begin and journeys end, yet some trips will last forever.

Tuesday, October 7, 2003

I stand alone in silence, as the day draws to a close. I watch as the bitter night approaches. The sky, with its pale pinks and muted grays, gives way to the black velvet of heavens palette. I observe the small points of light that begin to appear, sprinkled about the black sky so vast. On the horizon diffused by a large cluster of pine rises a red moon. A sharp and wicked wind begins to blow, heaving against the rugged mountains. All this I see whilst huddled near the trunk of a massive oak tree. It is here, alone, cold and naked that I stand, my eyes beseeching the heavens, and my heart listening for his command. Still....cold silence greets me, as I once again, offer up my plea. "Save me Lord, Lift me up and help me stand, for I am weak and I need a touch from thy mighty hand"......I listen, yea, but not with my ears, for when God speaks, it is the heart that hears. I look now into the night sky, as warm tears pool in my eyes, for my heart has heard, and the night is no longer cold as God lent voice to my heart and the cleansing has begun. I heard him say, " Figlio, ho sentito la vostra richiesta, vengo ora e sono con me." With this said, I left then, the silence of night. I abandoned the darkness and entered into the light. I began a journey anew and embarked on my everlasting.......celestial flight.
