I had hoped that you cared

Disillusionment wears many faces, but never one that can hide lies

Wednesday, October 15, 2003

I felt that you once loved me, I had hoped that you cared.

Now in confusion, I play games in my mind,

Wondering if what we had together was an illusion or lie.

Lost in the Uncertainty of what, if anything we shared.

Your smiles have become waxen faux memories of another time.

If you loved me, you would tell me, it would not go on this way.

Yet, in reality I am beginning to see, your heart is no longer mine.

I ponder in sadness to which we came this way, was it the long

Hours that I worked, or was it merely how you spent your day?

Did you have another, when you said that you were going to see Mother?

Or were you just escaping to dance to a newer song?

I guess now, as I stand in the pouring rain, that it was never meant to be.

That all you wanted in life was a means to be free.

So run along my dear one, and never more look this way,

For I in my sadness will find a brighter day.

<tears> I feel the isolation
in this write...the beauty.
How many times I have felt I
was in the pouring rain thinking
of a lost love. I felt your pain
Allen. Intense and powerful
write. This goes in my library!

sad. You know when a writer says a "heart is heavy"? This is how I feek after reading your verse. It gives me your ache. You have a most excellent way of animating your words.
