Poem Artwork

On coals of fire have I set my way, and treacherous is the journey.

I, with not a margin for mistake, sojourn on to that unseen dream.

Walk with me I pray, on this last and lonely mile.

Whisper to me softly to me and surrender unto my soul,

Lift me from my miseries fair, by the gentle turn of your lip

Temper it sweetly with your  tender smile.

Guide me swiftly past hell's gate,

and surround me with thy presence

fail not my love to keep my path strait

o

For this last mile that I have walked without thee,

has burdened my heart beyond all mortal belief

I fear that I may falter, without your sweet love to guide my way.

Though Forward I look, the past is ever with me,

I recall it all, with a clear clarity of the day.

It is these memories that have kept me sane.

o

I remember them so well, when we were but ten.

You were picking the flowers of the field

I was helping "Dad" bale cotton and take to the gin.

It was then that I saw you upon that hill,

Flouncing from rose to hyssop like a pixie caught in the wind.

and I knew

You would be mine, and I yours until the end.

Oh how sweet those days they were,

you  so beautiful and I so bold.

I laugh at myself now as I look back,

and see, how awful for you it must have been,

when at four in the morning I would croon to you my love.

I can still see your dad now,

running out of your house in T-shirt and shorts,

telling me that I better leave or else

they would be planting me this year instead of cotton.

Yeah though, that was then and this is now,

As I wander this lonesome road of madness forgotten.

                                                          SO

darling reach out to me from wherever you may be, and Guide me home,

lest my days turn to years, and I forever this dark road roam.

for this last mile without you has been too much to pay.

For cant you see…

I miss you more each minute, each second of the day.

Why did you have to go.....and leave me this way,

 I will never know.

for me, my goal is simple

I just want to be with you again

and hold you in my arms for eternity.

If I fail, or if I fall, please know this my love.

I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED YOU WITH MY ALL.

So kiss me in the night dreams of my soul,

that I may have fodder for the lonely road.

For I know not the way

To the place that you now call

Home.

What a true romantic. I love your photography as well. I take pictures the same. I loooove it. I always find beauty that is set in a moment that I feel, just needs to be remembered. This is such good soul poetry. I really appreciate reading such a declaration of true love and longing.

Thank YOU!
