Poem Artwork

I watched as you slept, missing you more with each shallow breath.

I wanted to wake you and have you share my day,

I needed you to talk to me, I longed for your company.

Yet alone

I watched, as the covers rose and fell upon your bed.

I kissed you softly and told you how much I loved you

and fluffed the crumpled pillows beneath your head.

You looked like an angel as you dreamed your dreams

and slept away the burdens of the previous day.

If I could, if I only could, I would take the dreams of your night

and substance to them I would add,

to ease the cumbersome load that you carry in the light.

I would say to you my love, awake, for it is a new day,

and all is well, and is just as you prayed.

I would pull back the curtains for your ocean to see,

and you would have your breakfast out on the balcony.

You would watch as the clouds so dark start to change before your eyes,

turning into those soft pink hues

as the sun neared the horizon on its way to claim the sky.

This my love would be your day forevermore,

as you smile your smile from the gleaming white shore.

There we would be, holding hands and laughing for eternity.

Oh dear one, someday.... I promise, it shall be.

But for now, just sleep and I will watch over thee.

This den is so full of talent! Your photography is amazing! I am in awe of that alone. Then, you take the reader in and out of so many emotions that it is just wild. I love how you left the poem open for more than one meaning. Exceptional work! Fine fine work!

Thank You,
Teresa Emilie
