Muse Resurrected

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Just when I thought you were truly dead, you returned.

Sunday, November 9, 2003

You came back to me like the rushing wind,

lifting me from my wordless despair.

Giving a new voice to thoughts

that I believed were no longer there.

You spoke of the splendor of dreams

You told me of secrets, and

things that choose to remain unseen,

but alas, I thought that you were dead

and from my life, you had truly fled.

Now tell me more, my resurrected muse,

tease me, taunt me, tantalize my soul,

give me now new words that I may put to use.

For can't you see,

that without you,

I AM just a hollow

and empty little thing.

I am your slave

and you are my master

and together we must be bound

by the chains of thought.

We must shackle our minds

against the empty places in time.

For

Together we shall give voice

To the forgotten words.

Just you and me,

Together forever

my lady muse divine.
