I watched in morbid silence
As the last of my dreams
Faded into a distant memory.
Dreams that once promised of a better life
One void of struggle,
one absent of strife.
When they parted
And took residence in their newfound place.
I know not when,
And now I cannot recall,
the look upon utopias face.
Feverishly I have delved
into the hidden passages of my mind.
Begging, pleading, for just one taste
Of one of those lost dreams of mine.
But all I found when I entered this
Were hollow and empty chambers
Scarred with the memory of another time.
Lost and without hope
All seems to have passed away
The desires, the aspirations
That once were commonplace
No longer lived nor even existed
all had vanished without a trace.
I remember this so well,
for they were all built on someday.
Dreams made of stone, as strong as steel.
It was the source that fed my soul.
Yet, now no meat have I.
So hold tight to your dreams
And let them never slip away,
Lest they vanish into another place and die.
For to search for a future
That is bound by the past
is but a waste of time.
