Temptress Of The Night

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

This poem is by no means intended as an indictment against women, but merely a reflection of what I witnessed tonight in one person, and the gullibility of one man, for it was plain for all to see (except the one being lured) what this young woman's intentions were...my apologies if I offend anyone, for I know that it does indeed go both ways.

Oh evil temptress of the night,

 call not unto me.

For wicked are your ways,

and vicious your lies.

You take goodness

and turn it for greed.

And on the soul of man,

 you choose to feed.

Your mouth is full of hate,

your teeth, daggers of evil desire.

With a bat of the eye,

 you lure your prey.

You tease them and taunt them

with the tricks of the trade.

Until they find themselves

Snared in your wicked web.

They try to run, but it is too late,

For they, through your lies

 have grown weak,

And to your dinner plate

 There souls are laid.

So temptress of the night,

you might as well go away,

For I have seen you,

 for who you are,

 in the light of day.

And you thought my "Feral" was a bit of a shocker? Hee hee...
This one supercedes my efforts by a number of miles, my poet
peer, in that it is a great piece of work.
Keep those keys clicking!

Excellent write and as a woman I say more women do this than men. They learn too early to use their wiles. I know it takes two, but using Madonna or Britney now as examples all the girls want to follow their lead...

Gosh...my thoughts are different here than most females I guess. Women are no different than man when it comes to betrayal or laying the preverbial trap. Nature makes us all victims and prey as well. I choose to be neither . I'd just like to smile at the reviews your offerings has started here.

Susan
