Fingers Of Silver

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

There are few places in this world that has the charm and peace as this place holds for me....and I have traveled all over this world. I have been in 15 countries and the entire lower 48. While each has its own charm, none in my eyes holds a candle to this special place.

Fingers of fine silver tore across the open sea,

chasing away the night that lay before me..

Large banks of clouds held firm their place,

as golden sunbeams intertwined like fine lace.

It was morning… a new and wonderful day,

And it had come once again to this most magical place.

Giving birth to sand, sky and sea.

I marveled, I gasped and stood amazed, as

Birds of all kinds soon began to fill the air,

Spilling forth in all their glorious splendor

The embodiment of what it is to really be free.

A gull here, a starling there, chirping away

Songs of love… a special greeting for me.

I know now in my heart, I feel it in my soul,

This is indeed, how God meant it to be.

One thing here that sets us apart from all others. We know tybee island well. For our readers here tybee Island is a barrier Island off the coast of Savannah, georgia. It is the home of the oldest lighthouses on the southeast shore built in 1733. It gurads the channel of the savannah River as it opens into the Atlantic. It will take your imagination, awe and wonder and do creatuve beauty to all of your senses. You paint this mytical beach very well.

love,
Susan
