Sail On

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Monday, December 8, 2003

I am just a lonely sailor,

 Passing the time away.

I sail along in a crystal dream,

 searching and feeling my way.

Longing still for a harbor safe,

Wishing still, that it was built

on the shores of yesterday.

 Sail on is my plea,

Sail on this eternal sea.

Awash with waves of time,

Going under from a broken mind.

 Sail on,

 anchors away,

 sink or swim

Loosing my grip

 on today.

Land ho, land ho,

yet its is of a place

That I do not know

Sail on,

oh lonely sailor,

Sail on to a better day.

Sad, Allen, but I like it alot as I am a consumate sailor, although I do my sailing in a power boat, no sail boats for me, too fickle, using the wind...again I enjoyed this Al, Peace, Ed & Rufuz

A sailors dirge, sung in beautiful words, which will hopefully turn into a ditty!
