prevails across the land?

Oh the sorrows that one sees

 in the face of man.

But wait…come quickly with me,

for there goes a man

 with joy on his face for all to see.

“Excuse me sir, and pray tell if you will,

what secret is it, that you possess,

 that allows you such joy and life fulfilled?

For there seems no escape,

from the maddening sorrows such as these”?

“What, I pray must be done,

 before these men of sorrows,

Can too have their day in the sun”?

“So please kind sir, please do tell.

What wisdom may you part,

That will lift these joyless dregs from sorrows hell”?

Please dear Sir, acquiesce to this and tell.

He smiled a warm and generous smile

 and slowly began to speak,

Friend dear friend, listen then if you will,

And hearken to the words I am about to tell.

“To search for joy for mere pleasures sake,

is the root of sadness’ bane.

For one must know peace in ones heart.

Before sadness lifts, and begins to depart.

For in it lies the truth of joy eternally.

It is so simple and for all who look, to see.

It is the love for another and not one’s self.

It is a world of,

Give, and not take.

A life to,

share and not steal.

Do this my son,

 and you too will joy reveal.

For to live one’s life for selfish gain,

Is the thief that robs the soul

and makes joys quest in vain.

Give and live,

Hoard and die,

that’s the motto,

that I live by.

So give it a go my son,

At least a try.

For what do you have to loose,

Except the sadness

Of the darkness

That binds you.
