FOR MY FRIENDS

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Wednesday, December 24, 2003

It is hard to say why, but I just needed a few days to cry. I needed some time to arrange my thoughts. However this I will say, I have found a truth in this outer glance and it came from friends like you. I wish to say to all of you whose poetry a rhyme I read along life’s way, a warm and gracious thank you. For it means so much to me, for everything you say and do. So, thank you my friends in this Den, for this poem is for YOU.

*Thanks to all and particularly L H

Time they say, heals all wounds,

but I say, its friends like YOU.

For sometimes, I travel a road of darkness,

where the light no longer shines its way through.

For my way is mired with the deluge of the past,

Yet still I slog along, I struggle and I gasp.

And just when,

I am about to surrender it all and give in,

Enter now…YOU… my (friend)

For YOU come forth like a rising sun,

Giving warmth and comfort,

When there was none.

YOU smile and show me love and grace,

YOU say to me “I understand,”

And that no matter the trial I face,

That YOU whom I call friend,

Will help me once again

Help me once again….

To stand alone,

on dry land.

Where I

 shall in friendship’s strength,

Always and forever stand.

Allen,
This is a wonderful tribute to FRIENDS. We ALL need a hand to hang on to from time to time. I'm glad to see that you're still here.

Abundant blessings to you! May you find peace within.

Hugs,
Tami

~Excellent, my friend. Sometimes we all need a hand
to reach out to us and lead us to dry land. Your heart
needs to heal...to mend. It takes time, my friend.
Thanks for the mention:)
I'm glad I could help and remember I'm here for you.

Yf, *Linda*

Allen I'm glad that you can see that others are far more forgiving and loving than we are to ourselves most times.;-)May the desires of your heart be filled now and in the New Year!

Allen, you touch my heart with such tender words. You have a heart filled with much love to share. As cold as the world sometimes may seem, there is always a light to be searched for. Happy Holidays. Lisa

Hi Allen, glad you're feeling loved !

It is true, those roads and alleys weil receive the shadings too, and getting lost, well, just a fact for us, et it rises anew, it whatever form it chooses

I once thoght all, no matter the form, was really FRIEND, although sometimes with whip and hand, and a glare to fill any temple

but these lessons come hard, with full payment demanded, however, a hand somewhere shall always be extended, al
