Count Your Days

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Monday, December 29, 2003

You steal love grown tender from my trusting soul,

as profuse whispers survive from venom blows.

Lapses of time approach me on bruised… crippled feet,

for your treachery has coerced all that refuse to see,

giving now unto you, a perverse pleasure in infirmity.

For your days are evil, as evil hath done,

and your cruelty can be measured on rising sun.

so venture no more into the quickening of my realm,

for alas I have another who shall guide my way,

another, who is like no other has taken my helm.

So count your days, for they are soon, oh so soon,

To pass away, for your deceiving ways are done

And nevermore, are you to see another day.

For

He is,

I am,

And

You are,

No longer

Allen, what Taylor and all the others have said, this is one of the best of yours I have read of late...not to say all of yours are not the best...let me remove my foot from my mouth and tell you that I like this quite a great deal
