Just Say Yes

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Thursday, January 15, 2004

A heart of ice cleaves to thy body, blacking thy very soul.
Thou care not, but for thyself and shun all with heart so cold.
A miserable wretch thou art, for you are forever taking, and never giving.
Soon a time shall come, when thy payment in this life comes due.

Then thou will give thyself over for retribution to He that rules.
Before him, thou shall stand, and he will judge thy earthly deeds.
Thy life will play out before thee, and then, on his command, thou shall drop to thy knees.

So, consider now thy ways, before the coming of the aforementioned day.
Take heed of all thy steps and open thy black heart to the need of others in pain.
Repent while chance gives, and flee from this life of selfish overindulging gain.

So come now into the gentle light of the most Highs Company.
Say yes today, for thy ransom has been paid, say yes to Him

Just say yes today.
