Yet today, in a whispers song, they are gone,

They perished beneath a foreign desert sun,

fighting and living an ephemeral life on the run.

Yea, for the sands of this foreboding and ancient land,

now run red from the fallen dead, and of American blood.

Shed in honor for their country and fellow man,

albeit for a war misaligned and misunderstood.

So whatever your position on this war may be,

Whether you are for it, or if you disagree,

The challenge that is before us as a nation is this…

Should we continue this insanity?

But do remember this, it is possible to support the troops,

without supporting a war, for war is never good,

and if peace can be found…then it should.

For I have seen what the wages of war do pay.

And it is death and destruction without regard for who you are.

So take but a moment to look at the following list,

And remember the families who are paying for this.

Though they are gone, yet

their names and memory will live on.

This below is but a list of ten,

times that by fifty and it soon sinks in.

So take a moment to say a silent prayer,

for those who have died over there.
