If but your face, I could only see,
It would break asunder the chains
that bind my heart, and set me free.
If I could only hold you for just a little while,
and taste the tenderness of your flesh upon my lips,
I would forevermore, carry life’s burdens with a smile.
For you in all of your beauty lift me above the clouds
So enter now into my simple mortal realm,
And give unto me your everlasting love.
Yet tread slow upon this wounded heart,
lest you overwhelm.
For in this worldly race, I have been bound,
by the chains of heartache, that consumed me.
I loved but one, yet she with another I found.
Thus my fearful heart in sadness does beat.
Yet slowly I dream, that soon it will be,
That face to face, we will at last meet.
