Temptress Breath

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Saturday, January 24, 2004

You came unto me as an appealing warm dream,

wonderful, strange and a bit obscene, yet out of control.

And you, with a flatters tongue, you convinced me …

that to you, and only you… to surrender my very soul.

Then with vicious sighs from your temptress breath

you spread your poisons from your lair so vain and cold.

Pray tell, how could an old fool that I call me,

ever fall victim to your pretty lies and deceit?

How could I ever be so blind, as not to see,

That you were not the angel from above

that you presented your amiable self to be.

Yet now, it is excruciatingly plain for me to see….

That you are merely an agent of forever’s darkness,

Who came under stealth…to steal the light from within me.

So herby I stand…

In a barren and worthless land,

awaiting my sentence of doom…

to fall as quicksilver from your hand.

I Wait…

I Anticipate…

My extermination soon.

Yes…death once more

Oh solitary death,

Befallen of…

Temptress breath.

Ahh, Al, the temptress breath that we have all felt . one time or another, we all stood on that open plain awaiting death...you have coined it so mystically, like that of a fantasy only in reality...Find peace in that death...Ed & rufuz
