Walls of Imbalance

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Wednesday, January 28, 2004

Humiliation and self induced scorn,

I heaped upon my tattered soul,

As I, weary in both body and mind,

succumbed to the equation in whole.

Looking for an out, as I staggered in,

searching for a solution, wanting to win.

Walls of imbalance are leaning my way,

as the tides of absolution, slowly exit the day.

Humble and resolute am I against this sway,

for the substance of myself tasted bitterness this day.

As I, in contemptuous and muted shame,

grow tired of society’s torrid little game.

“So forgive and forget”…said I,

“But I cannot”, myself replied,

For the walls of imbalance,

Have crumbled before my very eye…

Leaving this shattered spirit to…

Die.

Like Mr. Matlack, I sincerely hope "wanting to die" is fiction.
You are too great a talent to be wasted, J. Allen.
My favorite line in this pondering poem is:
"...Looking for an out...as I staggered in."
Supreme!

thought I reviewed this - sorry, this is really remarkable piece, to my ways of seeing things, for it explores the very inner and remarkable areas sof the mind, the journeys we take, and the hone out hues we may seek, those greatest of caverns so so teribly deep. It allhints of imblance yet it is not, but merely perceptions of imbalance, for imbalance could not possibly write a piece like this, it is ifthe author is (so) familiar witht he walls and valleys that merely harbor it, austere and deep writing Allen, cordial al

Al, I sincerely hope that it is fiction and hope that your spirit stays balanced. Without that balance, how can I hope to enjoy your reviews of my short works...and I won't be able to enjoy yours either...stay balanced, Al and keep your spirit strong...Peace, Ed & Rufuz

Very sad, actually. I hope it's all fiction, but of course, I know it has to be.
