Santa’s Grotto

Peep into the Grotto
what can you see?
Is that Santa there
behind that twinkling tree?

He’s waiting for you
to give him your list,
Of the presents you’d like
is there anything you’ve missed

Playstation for some
or a bike for big brother.
A baby doll for your sister,
she wants to play mother.

Some ask for so much
others ask for a surprise,
And a little one, over-awed
in Momma’s arms cries.

A ten year old girl
comes to visit Santa alone.
Her request tugs at the heart,
sends a chill to the bone.

She is sad eyed and solemn
holding some secret inside,
As she tells Santa her wish,
a hearts desire that should not be denied.

All that she asks for
"A Happy Christmas please."
Of all the many requests
Santa feels his heart squeeze,

For this child he prays
for a Christmas enchanted,
by Divine Intervention
May her wish soon be granted.
