The world grew quiet
and could not care
if I remained
or was not there

People still lived
their cars drove by
they did not care

The stars shone bright
but very cold
no God or Goddess
of me was told

No spirits spoke
no angels came
‘f I lived or died
‘twas all the same

I begged, I pleaded
for your love
I prayed to whomever
below or above

‘could not believe
what had happened to me
To cease to love
is to cease to be

My heart grew still
and suddenly died
crumpled to dust
because you had lied

To my surprise
a faint beat remained
a life I had lost—
afterlife had I gained

A new heart pale
and not as strong
