collecting positive thoughts
greatly influences cold and
aloof destructive power of
ice allowing creations of
masterful art beholding
Physical verbs describing
by resonating nouns with
vivid adjectives in direct
contrast with hate inspiring
many to master the language
using fire and ice essence in
a warm constructive way
Leaving virtually a buffet of
fiery and frosty per se to meter
and rhyme satisfying the need
for balancing both as the truth
can be found somewhere in
between the two extremes

You are in the company of greats like Frost and Dante with your treatment of the "fire and ice" theme. Most writers offer an either/or choice but your more modern take, the middle ground is probably more in keeping with the man in the street's view.
As poet, we should help delineate the difference between the two. I have a copy of “ Fire and Ice” the biography of Charles Revson, signed by the author that I got so long ago had a financial dinner and book signing in Atlanta.
Your words are mesmerizing... as is the photo you have chosen for this poem of balancing fire and ice, which is like day and night. Very good comparisons here, Vivian.
As soon as I read your opening, and even before I scrolled through the poem and discovered where you got your inspiration, I immediately thought of "Fire and Ice" ... I like your image of the buffet and the idea of mediating between the extremes... your poem is both visceral and visual in its approach. Nicely done, dear Vivian.
Whoa! Fire and ice the extremes are sheltering all the good stuff somewhere between them. Still, sometimes it is okay to just go with the Fire. Don't cotton to ice so much. What can I say? Oh. I already said it.
