A poem to my autistic son
You are different That’s what makes you special You are more normal than most Making no judgments that make others feel deposed Lost in your own world A world filled with love and joy A world void of viciousness and cruelty A world unlike what most are aware of In your little cocoon In which God tightly wrapped you Away from the cruelty of this world of mine A world in which your heart and mind are safe Your words may be delayed and disarrayed In them mummy finds love and joy With God above And mummy by your side You shall have a Divine and fulfilled life My darling saint Ralphael!

How beautifully you write of your special son! May he grow in maturity and capabilities...there is much potential ahead. And may God guide you in the best ways to help him. "Bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord," and you are off to a good start!

This is wonderful, but the greatest gift you can give your son is to expose him to the greater world and his own ability to make his own decisions as soon as possible. I know it's hard not to mother someone too much, but my mother (and father) allowed me to make my own mistakes, and I was much better for it.
