A maturing wife

My Idiotic Husband

At fifty-five you expect me to care for you?

Know that women mature much earlier than men.

I am now older; I may have begun younger than you.

I need your respect. You must treat me as such, remember.

I cannot now love you in that silly way.

Unless, of course, you try to be my elder son.

You want to be my brain; I can’t consider you my heart.

Isn’t something wrong with your approach?

It was your youth that drew me on once. Be youthful

To invite that sort of love again. You can’t eat the cake and

And want to have it too. We’ve walked together

Long enough; now let me have my space.

I can’t go on and on just thinking of your face.

Lakshmi,

Since I am a romantic, I believe love can last forever if two people have complete love and respect for each other. This poem gives the reader alot to contemplate.

Your poem is something to really think about. Age is something that
we all will do but you can't let it get the best of you. Keep loving
her or him just the same and you will still remain the two of you
so in love and blissful too! DOn't let age get next to you, love her or him more and you will get through.(smile) Just keep on smiling, loving and kissing the same.

Since you like to comment on virtually every poem, you should first understand the nature of a particular form of poetry called the dramatic monologue in which there is a character, rather than the poet or someone related to the poet who is the speaker.

Looks like menopause is setting in early. Interesting how you are writing from the distaff point of view. That can be dangerous if she reads and disagrees.
