I opened the door to my heart
and allowed you to come inside
I made a pleasant, loving place
for you to reside
while there, you grew and said
you needed more space
I held tight, and tried to fight
to keep you in place
but I loved you, so I opened the door
to let you go free
now, there's a empty place inside of me

I left the door to my lonely heart
slightly ajar
from time to time, I peer out
wondering where you are
but Mama said to close it, move on,
