do you know?
how could you . . .
seeing your name
hearing your words
after such an absence
my heart skipped a beat
you . . .
so sorely missed
but worse than that -
neglected
a beautiful, perfect friendship
left to wither
in the storms of life
that's what my heart told me i'd done
yet here you are
bearing gifts of words
images of innocence
memories or dreams
doesn't matter which
the warmth and love
flow like quickening sap
bringing the first blush of life
to a winter-worn garden
the long, winter darkness
forgotten
the cold, harsh winds
past
free to grow and bloom
a tumble of happy blooms
childhood memories of
sweet peas and bachelor buttons
tangy tomatoes and golden corn
a tangle of pumpkins and squash
resting at their feet
a riot of fragrance and color
familiar yet exotic
ever exciting and new
eager to drink the nectar
flowing freely from
the words of a friend
expressed. I especially enjoyed reading these verses, free to grow and bloom a tumble of happy blooms.
