I walk in shadows dim and cold

in misty valleys high and low,

where people without words silently scream

" Love and Joy doesn't flow "

I took a walk one night in Hell

as I tossed, sleeping in my bed,

in the earth I fell down a hole,

huge fires guided the souls, who bled

With memories that were never erased

the evil, religious,indifferent and cold,

to the gentleness & beauty in the earth,

they lived their lives for a fool's gold

A suicide bomber's ghastly fate

was seeing the pain of all he did kill,

heard the dreams they would never have,

all because he thought it was " God's will "

Men in high positions of authority

dictators and men from the west,

who with a word sealed the fate,

of millions, they thought was best

Young people who gave their lives for greed

lusting for things for their soul,

fighting like dogs for a higher mountain,

running for a Love they didn't know

No joy, no flowers, no sweet smell

grew on the lonely slopes there,

tears without end, smiles never seen

no love for others to share

Overhead a sky of black velvet night

as I walked, moans I did hear,

from those who would never leave,

a place to avoid, to always fear

I saw a figure upon a rock

black wings did cover his face

I asked my guide, an Angel in white,

" Who is that in this horrible place?"

Angel said" he is the one who once

was called the Morning star, you see,

till pride was found in his life,

now all he has is a painful memory

Many in the world do not believe

that he is real at all,

so many decide to go their own way

much to mankind's own fall"

Just then this being came in front

said to the Angel and to me

" You two are not from here...

I know you...you write Poetry!"

My angel stood close to me

as the Dark Angel spoke again

I know who you really are

your joys and your silent pain"

I looked into such a veiled face

"yes my past you fully know

by now you know the person I became

and the eternal peace in my soul

Tho I do write some wild poetry

a line is between me and you

seeing now, the empty promises you gave

and the riches you offered too

And when the world is no more

they'll see you played them like a pawn,

you're a murderer, the father of lies,

O Morning star, son of the Dawn"

At this he arose into the air

his shriek scared souls, split the air,

Angel said ' You have seen enough

and he took me away from there"

My angel stood guard till I slept

in my bed till dawn's first light

said" Live for others, Love all with truth,

lest you end up in the Garden of Night"

Had to stay with this to the bitter end, for all is not lost unless you are like the morning star that has its end when pride has its fall.

An original take on Dante's Inferno. It's quite interesting how you place yourself as being guided by white and finding the opposite in black. You have lived your life well to be on the right side. You also defined the evil that we do very well, but not the relative punishment like Dante.

While I do not believe that any of this exists except in our imaginations (and dreams), fortified by reading the Bible and countless other descriptions, paintings and particularly, medieval etchings, your poem is quite interesting, indeed.
