I sit in the quiet room , the only sound the clock ticking on the wall,
peace and calm descend around me, as I let the silence fall,
Not concious of any thought, just letting time flow by,
Relaxed at harmony with my solitude , moments to enjoy..
The clock ticks quietly on , a peaceful sound that fits my mood,
An air of quiet contentment now envelopes me beneath its hood,
Thoughts and cares seem far away, , the world is far apart,
As the freshness of this time alone, brings solace to my heart.
Moments spent like this from time to time, ease lifes aches and pains,
And gives to us that refreshing strength, to face the world again.
Just withdraw yourself from lifes grim race a while,
Let solitude refresh your soul, then you can face that extra mile.

John ... no matter how we view it ... solitude is only a moment in time. Making it last in our hectic lives is a hard and difficult proposition. Bill Murray

John, this is so true and so well said! When I want a bit more than silence I like to listen to Dan Gibson's Solitudes, a series of CDs with natural sounds (bird calls, rain patter, wild horses in a canyon, etc.) Calming and relaxing.
